I will be frank, I liked the notion behind Fiverr.com.
Only a couple clicks and a client can put an order using a freelancer according to a particular set of deliverables.
Sure, however, it comes at a cost. A huge one.
This is just one the few freelance platforms where buyers have been given free reign to abuse, sabotage and blackmail vendors any way that they like.
In this informative article, I'd like to talk about a new bad experience for a vendor on Fiverr, and why I chose to give up on the stage entirely.
(I've been guiding her on building a reputable accounts, and how to go above and beyond every previous order. Everything stated is that her doing, I'm only an audience )
In cases like this, she had only gotten another $5 order on her logo gig, which seemed to be similar to another... or so we believed.
The purchase was fulfilled in great time, and my girlfriend had included a bonus emblem concept as well as the source file (which is usually part of the costlier bundle ).
The customer"loved" one of those concepts and so we proceeded to send her the appropriates record sizes, as mentioned in the final description. Soon after, things got a little weird.
The customer came back requesting a social networking kit to go with the logo, something which is clearly not available as a member of her gig.
In my advice, my girlfriend decided to provide the extra job, despite not getting paid any extra for it.
Following that, the customer responded with much more demands and a few modifications to the social media files.
At this point, she consented enough was enough.
Despite every attempt to please this individual, they were clearly overstepping their boundaries here.
This is when the client went from only overstepping bounds to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of taking my girlfriend Fiverr reputation hostage.)
While she took a while to ponder a response and reach to Fiverr support for help, the customer did finally go on and render a 1 star review.
Presumably this was to demonstrate her he/she was Fiverr Review, What is Fiverr? - June 2018 WebCreate not kidding.
Soon after, while still waiting on Fiverr's answer to the service question, the client paid an extra $10 to your social media kit.
Naturally, the payment was accompanied by still another danger.
At this point, all I wished to do was go all Liam Neeson and hunt this person down so that I could repeatedly punch them from the face.
However, at the time, I had hope that Fiverr service could step in and rescue my girlfriend out of that PITA client.
After the answer came back from Fiverr support, they told her they could Fiverr Inc. Reviews Glassdoor not induce the buyer to take the order.
Okay, that's reasonable enough. (Even though the buyer already accepted it.)
In addition they proposed drawing up a listing for the purchaser to demonstrate the work has been completed in accordance with the gig prerequisites.
My girlfriend hauled in her initial email the customer was hoping to extort her for free work outside the agreed periods, by leaving a negative review if she didn't comply.
Of course, it was not really about the job, it had been all about seeking protection in an abusive client who had been intentionally pushing his luck.
Their reply didn't give us some assurance that Fiverr really knew that, and even at this point we felt like they didn't wish to get involved.
At precisely the same time, she responded to the buyers newest danger, explaining that she would not continue to operate with them unless the comments has been changed/removed.
(Again, this can be feedback that was obviously and blatantly made to intimidate her to supplying work out of the agreed conditions .)
An honest petition by anyones standards, appropriate? Well, apparently not.
Instead of acknowledge what the purchaser had completed until this point, Fiverr instantly turned the tables in my girlfriend.
Turns out, she had been the only breaking all the rules.
Since she had asked the customer to modify their opinions, she was no longer eligible for any assistance from Fiverr support.
You can imagine how we both felt studying this.
Everything that the purchaser had done and said before her final message was now being swept Recommended Site under the rug -- like never happened in any way.
Fiverr essentially decided to support a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend with a permanent stain in an accounts she'd worked so tough to accumulate.
And think, there are tons of buyers doing precisely this on Fiverr, knowing they could and will get away with it.
But as all this was happening, I did some research to determine whether any other vendors went through a similar ordeal with a purchaser.
Quite quickly, I found a number of almost equal cases on the Fiverr forum dated years ago. (that's right, decades.)
This is clearly something that's been happening for quite a while and it stems from providing buyers too much power over vendors.
When there's one thing I have heard about Fiverr, it's that customers are ALWAYS more valued than freelancers.
Regardless of how much time that you put into a job, or how hard you worked on itor perhaps how well you handled communication during a dispute, even when it really boils down to it... freelancers have little to no security.
Even when it's a clear cut case in your favour, there is still every chance the customer will come out at the top. All it takes it one tiny thing you"did wrong" in accordance with their conditions of support and EVERYTHING else is disregarded
Looking at the signs, it is clear to me that Fiverr is well aware of what's happening, yet is still prepared to settle back and let it happen.
If you are a decision maker at Fiverr and you are reading this, I urge you to seriously reevaluate your existing support procedures for freelancers.
It's not right that somebody can put all that time and effort in to establishing an account and over-delivering at every conceivable opportunity, only to be shot down from the very people that you rely on to protect you.
Look, I do not wish to leave Fiverr. I don't want to be telling people to prevent your system.
But after everything that's happened, you have not left me any decision.
Until something is done in order to shield freelancers from this type of abuse, I'll continue to spread this post and do whatever I can to prevent others from falling victim to your one-sided support team.
The second you actually do something about it and also give freelancers a means to fight back, I'll be more than happy to update the post.
